Wanted: Something pretty

I'm a real stickler when it comes to jewelry. I like it to be dainty, pretty (of course), affordable, made of quality metals, and something that really catches my eye. I don't own a lot of jewelry, but what I do own- I wear it and truly adore the few pieces in my collection.

With that said, when I happened upon Rare Bird, I was immediately swooning after several of their pretty necklaces.

Stylish breastfeeding: Bohemian

Running a close second to my skinny jeans and loose tank is the maxi skirt. I really love pairing mine with a nursing tank, cropped top, or denim jacket...depending on the weather. I tend to keep accessories pretty minimalistic, with just enough to add an extra touch to an outfit.

Since making three maxi skirts over the last few weeks, I feel like they should be a staple in every woman's wardrobe. They're so much more versatile than I had imagined. I find them especially wonderful as a mom because they allow me to feel extra feminine without sacrificing my ability to have full range of motion, like when I'm bending over the pick up B.

What do you think of them? Do you love them or hate them?

Wanted: Something White

I'm infatuated with these White Faux Taxidermy heads. They're gorgeous. I especially adore the lion, elephant, and the white deer with pink antlers. Ever since I found them, I've been dreaming of where I could put one of these pieces of lovely decor in my home. I've narrowed it down to the office or the bedroom. Now, I just need to choose which one I'd like the most. :) It's so difficult to decide because they're each so perfect.

Which one(s) would you choose? And where would you put it in your home? I'd love to know.

Stylish Breastfeeding

I'm pretty obsessed with flowy tops lately. And a good pair of skinny jeans. It's my go to mom outfit. I feel pretty and feminine and able to easily breastfeed B. A nice combination. I can't say this is how I felt about myself last Summer... I was usually sporting yoga capri pants and a poorly fitted top (sometimes even a maternity top, even though I was no longer pregnant) while also wearing flip flops. Definitely comfortable, but not the kind of outfit I felt really good about wearing 95% of the time. Do you know what I mean?

Here's some inspiration that's far from yoga pants and flip flops, but still super comfortable! :)

Monday DIY: Nursing Tank

A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon this tutorial for how to make your own nursing tank. As much as I adore my BOOB nursing tops, I really wanted something that enabled me to wear the flowly tops every now and then. So without breaking the bank, I bought these nice camisoles on sale... some neutrals and bright colors. Now, I'm all set to comfortably wear a flowly top without sacrificing easy nursing access for B. :)

What you'll need:
  • a camisole with straps that are easy to detach on the back side of the top
  • seam ripper
  • scissors
  • a needle (or sewing machine) and matching thread
My camisoles had a built in shelf bra, which I didn't need. So, I carefully cut it out.

After removing the shelf bra, I then used my seam ripper to carefully detach the straps on the back side of the camisole.

I then cut the straps leaving about 1.5 inches of remaining strap fabric.

Next, you'll want to create a loop just large enough to put the clasp of your nursing bra through. If the loop is too large, it will not stay on when you unlatch the nursing bra to nurse. Once you're happy with the loop's size, sew it in place.

It's just that easy. It took me about 20 minutes overall and I spent less than $20. on all my materials. I'm really happy with how they turned out. :)

Thrifted Thursday

As I've mentioned before, I recently got back into thrift shopping and now it's not just me, my sister has joined the ranks too. :) We went together last week because I was on the hunt for some shadow box frames for this pretty tutorial. Initially, my sister was pretty opposed to thrifting; she likes new things. Don't we all, though...at least sometimes? :) Pretty soon, my sister was grabbing more things than I was and she officially became a convert to thrifting when she spotted an originally $80+ piece of art we had seen some time back in a high end store. At the thrift shop, however, this beauty was only $14.99 so we snatched it up for our mom, who admired it a few months ago. Eep. We were so happy. And so is our mom! We also found a couple little pretties that would be perfect for use at a tea party. Or to hold things like bobby pins and jewelry. I'm sure we'll use them for both. :)

Wanted: an awesome backpack

For months now, I've been toting around a beautiful but impractical diaper bag. My sister bought it for me and the design is lovely, but for a cloth diapering and baby wearing momma it doesn't quite fit my needs. I've been keeping my eyes open for a really awesome backpack. I wanted something with one or two pockets and ideally a side pocket for a water bottle or sippy cup and lightweight. Oh, and nothing synthetic. I know, I know. I'm a weirdo who likes natural fibers. heehe. These beauties practically fit the bill perfectly. :)

What do you think? Do you own any Baggu's? If so, what's your opinion of their products?
